Toshiba DMS Standardizes On Synplicity's FPGA Synthesis Solutions
SUNNYVALE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 28, 2002--
Synplicity, Inc. (Nasdaq:SYNP), a leading supplier of software
for the design and verification of semiconductors, today announced
that Toshiba Design & Manufacturing Service Corporation (Toshiba DMS)
has standardized on Synplicity's leading FPGA synthesis tools,
Synplify® and Synplify Pro®, and the industry's only physical
synthesis solution for FPGA designers, the Amplify® Physical
Optimizer(TM). Toshiba DMS, a leading designer and manufacturer of
printed circuit boards and designer of semiconductors for
communications, control, medical and electronic applications, chose
Synplicity's FPGA synthesis solution to help achieve high quality of
results (QoR) in timing-critical FPGA designs. Toshiba DMS will use
Synplicity's solutions to design FPGAs for industrial equipment
including communications equipment, control systems, medical
instruments and electronics equipment.
"Before deciding to standardize on Synplicity's solutions, we
conducted a thorough evaluation of available FPGA synthesis products,"
said Susumu Kouyama, Senior Manager of LSI design group, Toshiba DMS.
"Our evaluation found that Synplicity offers very effective tools for
designers who need to achieve the highest performance possible from
their FPGAs. Using these tools, we achieved very aggressive design
goals and expect we will certainly reduce the cost of our projects and
improve the time to market."
Toshiba Corporation established Toshiba DMS in November 2001 to
reduce printed circuit board design and production costs. Toshiba DMS
combines the manufacturing and design capabilities of the various
Toshiba engineering facilities including the Hino factory, Fuchu
business office, Nasu factory, Yanagimachi business office and Komukai
factory. Toshiba DMS designs and manufacturers printed circuit boards
and designs large scale integration (LSI) semiconductors and FPGAs.
The company is headquartered in Tokyo.
Gary Meyers, vice president of worldwide sales at Synplicity,
said, "Toshiba DMS is a valued customer and we are committed to its
success. We believe our Synplify Pro and Amplify software solutions
will deliver excellent quality of results and enable high-productivity
in Toshiba's design teams. We are very pleased it has chosen to
standardize on our FPGA synthesis and physical synthesis tools and
look forward to a long-term relationship."
